The easiest way is to use the back up utility on the ps3 and back up to an external HDD formatted to FAT32. Takes about 5-6 hours to do roughly 320gb, then about the same to reinstall to the new HDD.

I finally bought this same hdd through amazon and installed it this weekend. After the latest store update and the free games I couldn't resist any longer. I only had about 10gb left and wanted to download 50+gb of new (&free) games, so it was a no brainer. Just wish I would have had a way to do the back up. I copied the save files and re-downloaded the games and add ons. PS3 has been working OT for the last 30+ hours, but should be done some time in the morning (I hope).

My ps3 is only 80gb so it shoudnt take quite that long, thanks man!

I am in the middle of installing the 1tb drive right now(into the Slim), the whole back up process took about 4 hours for my 120gig drive back up which I was surprised by. It is restoring now and estimating about 2-3 hours I think.
