I haven't really looked for anything in particular with the Amazon app but I was wondering if its a waste to keep paying for Netflix if we already have Prime. We rarely look for movies, mostly kid stuff and cartoons. Are they even close?

Its pretty close on non movie content. older tv shows and seasons etc.. Netflix has a lot more (at least for the stuff I watch )

I have both. Netflix for movies only. Prime mainly for the free shipping..free kindle books/apps etc.. Prime is a lot more than streaming if you use amazon.com

But to answer your question.. no i do not think its a waste at this point to have both(as I do). As amazon keeps adding more to prime I will someday probably cancel Netflix but that day has not arrived yet.

Quality and devices might also be a factor for you... I have a TV with an Amazon client built in and the quality on that is WAY better than Netflix. Netflix artifacting and audio compression has always irritated me, but maybe that's just my hi-fi snobbery showing.

Since you already have Prime, use it for a week without using Netflix. If the kids don't go into meltdown and you don't miss something you absolutely "have to watch", that'll pretty much answer your question.

I use Netflix more but only because I'm just use to it. I've become a prime member recently, but only used the Amazon Prime app on my PS3 two times. Both times the streaming HD quality was very nice.

Netflix use to look good, but the quality has been going downhill lately for me. smthng, if you're guilty of hi-fi snobbery then I'm probably guilty of it also. lol. I've been upgrading my entertainment hardware and that's around the time I've noted the downgrade in video quality when watching Netflix. So maybe that's one of the causes of it.

For me, I got Prime for the 2 day delivery (they are fast: have been getting my stuff a day ahead of the estimated delivery date) and free shipping. Having the amazon prime video is a nice bonus.

If I were able to get the Netflix catalog easily on other sites, I'd probably drop Netflix.
