SCEE have just confirmed the PS+ offering for June.

As always, subscribers are in for a treat thanks to some fantastic free games. Rayman Origins, which is perhaps the most beautiful looking game so far on the Vita‘s OLED screen, arrives on June 5th. Another title for Sony‘s latest handheld – Coconut Dodge Revitalised, from renowned PSN developer FuturLab – also hits on the same day. Meanwhile, the PS3 selection will be updated with 3 full retail releases on May 29th. The PS Blog also teases that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is set for a 70% discount on PS+.

The Psycho Bandit will be available to tear up Pandora when the PlayStation Store updates later today for $9.99.

It’s coming this Summer to PSN and PCs everywhere! It’s no longer trying to be sneaky. As a matter of fact, our until-recently-stealthy friends from Lille, France, Seaven Studio, are laying their baby wide open to the elements!

Ethan: Meteor Hunter is a platforming puzzler which revolves around our hero, a mouse who became exposed to fragments of this interstellar interloper. Unlike Stephen King in Creepshow who turns into a plant-man, Ethan becomes telekinetic like Stephen King’s Carrie without the specter of spontaneous gym-shower sanguination. Ethan travels through three different worlds and 50 levels as he tries to reconstitute the pulverized meteor.

When Seaven announced their existence they talked about involving their fans in the process of development. They weren’t kidding. Have a look at the video below and become involved in the development by downloading the Alpha Demo onto your computer and sending the studio your feedback.

Just released from Deep Silver is the announcement trailer for Ride to Hell: Route 666. Releasing this summer for the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and Steam.

The folks behind Mars War Logs have released a development overview video which tries to outline the particulars of design and gameplay. The extraordinary problem with the video is its host’s amazingly thick French accent! I think I got the gist. Something about Mars. And there’s a war. And we keep track of it?

I did understand that all choices made during the game affect the outcome. I’m pretty sure I heard that right. And that’s cool. It’s becoming de rigueur for player’s choices to make differences in games. At any rate, the graphics look great and the art design is really superb in this overview video. I hope it holds true for the game upon release.

Darkstalkers Resurrection, see my review, has been made even better by a new patch which dropped very recently.

The patch provides multiplayer functionality where once none existed. It’s almost like Iron Galaxy hacked their own game and made it so good it shouldn’t be legal. All I know is, with this new functionality, I’d like to change my review from 9.5 to 9.79745!

Ubisoft has just unleashed a new retro-80s-style trailer for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Filled to the brim with….well….your childhood Saturday Mornings! To say more may lessen the impact of the trailer, so just watch it. You might want to pour the milk on your Fruity Pebbles after. You don’t want them to get soggy while your mouth’s hanging open.

What is in a name, indeed. This reminds me a bit of the slasher movie Communion in the early 80s which was a re-release of Alice, Sweet Alice from the 70s. The posters blared that the movie featured the newly minted movie star, Brooke Shields! Brooke had recently become big news after her role in The Blue Lagoon. Very-long-and-detailed-story-short, Brooke Shields’s first movie role was as a little girl taking her first communion and being burned alive in the process. She was SIX YEARS OLD at the time. Years later the producers used her name and teenaged likeness to repackage and re-release the film. Which is how I found myself reliving the trauma of seeing all that gore – a second time!

My point in bringing this up is simply that Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon will likely have as much in common with Far Cry 3 as teenaged Brooke Shields had with Communion. Check out this non-trailer trailer and let me know if you agree.

FC3:BD was sort of announced by Ubisoft on April 1st in a pseudo-practical joke fashion to amuse and confuse. No one outside Ubisoft’s own offices knew the announcement wasn’t a joke until the downloadable game surfaced in the arcade section of Microsoft’s XBLA as a title coming on May 1st. That translates to March 31st for us PlayStation 3 fans.

According to information made available on the game’s own website, here’s the plot:  “The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.”

The first two sentences in the plot description are terrifying and awesome. As in, “Aaaaawsome, duuuuuude…jhyah bra…”! The game design and accompanying materials are all designed as 1980s throwbacks. The website design is filled with late-80s era graphics. The game is designed to look like it’s being seen on a 480i resolution TV set. But the most intriguing element on the website is a small square area which looks like a TV picture paused with two live actors sitting in an office. Could this mean the game will incorporate FMV? Will Full Motion Video be making a comeback? Or at least an appearance? The design seems to be hinting at just that possibility!

Guacamelee the upcoming action platformer from Drink Box Studios finally gets a release date of April 9th in the Americas. The game will be priced at $14.99 and includes cross-buy for the PlayStation 3 and PSVita. Check out the release trailer below and let us know if you will be picking this up day one.

During all the GDC madness, Sony revealed that Puppeteer will be releasing in North America on September 10th as a  PSN download and as a Blu-Ray release.

If you are not familiar with Puppeteer it is being developed by SCE Japan under Gavin  Moore’s direction. The story follows Kutaro, a boy turned puppet, trying to make his way home. Equipped with a magical pair of scissors called Calibrus he sets out on a journey to defeat the evil Moon Bear King.
