North American PlayStation Plus is Changing

North American PlayStation Plus members started getting very frustrated with their once adored service. It all started about four months ago when the quality of games they would get started to become disappointing, where as on the other side of the pond the EU PlayStation Plus service seemed to give them great offerings every month.

Take this coming month of March for example, the EU are getting all of this for free:

For PS3

  • 6th March: Mass Effect 3
  • 6th March: Dead or Alive 5
  • 6th March: Joe Danger 2
  • 27th February: God of War HD (for two weeks)

For Vita

  • 13th March: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
  • 20th March: Puddle

Good isn’t it! So not only did they get a bucket load of great games but they new all the games a week or so before the first one hit the store. Well after months of complaints from the community it seems like Sony have once again listened to their loyal fans. They announced on the PlayStation Blogcast things are going to change, you’ll now know the monthly lineup in advance and by the sounds of it the games should be getting better. Not only that, they teased four different Instant Game Collection titles that’ll be in next months update:

  • A Critically acclaimed shooter, turned the world on its head (not Inversion) from what to expect from a shooter.
  • Strategy RPG game (from a series) coming to the PlayStation Vita.
  • Another great fighter for the Instant Game Collection.
  • Fairly recently released PSN game from a highly acclaimed writer, very famous video game luminary.

So what games do you think they’ll be (we will find on Monday 4th), let us know in the comments.

It would be great if it was P4G, I got it awhile ago and love it, even if I’m not a jrpg gamer, or a rpg one for that matter!

      • etur0

I like rpgs but not so much with jrpgs and I don’t really like turn base games all that much there are a very few turn base games that I actually like and one is legend on dragoon and anther is ffx which is the only ff games that I really like and the only one that I actually have beaten

  • Spec Ops. Disgaea 3 (maybe Rainbow Moon. Was that on Vita?). Too vague, maybe Persona 4 Arena? The Cave.

    • ChazzH69

Rainbow Moon is coming out on Vita, partly due to our community going on at them to do it!

    So my guess is:
    a) Spec ops the line
    b) some Final fantasy (I’m not into RPGs so don’t really care)

    c) Tekken Tag Tournament 2
    d) The Cave

    What do you think?

  • ChazzH69

So everyone so far is guessing the Cave. Spec Ops is a very good guess.

Can the US have what EU has? That wouldn’t be too bad.

Too much complaining about Plus. The service breaks down to approx. 4.25 per month, so why does everybody get so worked up? Couple with all the other features, and I think it had been pretty good as is. To answer the ?, I’ll say Spec Ops, DoA5 and The Cave. Don’t have a solid working knowledge of Strategy RPGs, so I’ll pass on guessing that one.

  • Ramen_4_Life

The Strategy RPG is most likely Disgaea 3, and the fighter… I’ll go out on a limb and guess Soul Calibur V. I haven’t played that series since SC II, so I’ll be crossing my fingers on it being added to the IGC.

I’m going to guess Skull Girls and Karateka for the last two. Mostly because no one guessed them yet.

I can understand why you are complaining, but tbh it sounds a little whiny considering Europeans have been screwed over for the last 6 years by Sony. (Late launch, crippled B/C, later SW launches, etc)

Finally Sony realizes that if they don’t want to loose Europe as the did NA this gen they need to provide some good stuff to everyone – I know that if we are told to wait again with the PS4, I will be less likely to get it at launch since we will use that “release rush” anyway…

  • plus is only good for people who haven’t got any money to buy new titles. as a person who got enough money to buy the titles when they come out – playstation plus is just garbage and a joke to me. sometimes even a slap in the face.

  • plus is only rewarding when one stops buying new stuff completely. otherwise the service is a slap in the face every month. so people who are able to afford buying new games should stay away from plus. it is only for those who are in over their wallets. so people who gave money for the service are feeling somewhat tricked by sony. if they advertised it correctly: as a means of taking the edge of the second hand market, i for sure would have never touched this service. but i have. and i feel i want my money back.
