Sony announces soaring sales on Black Friday

Here is the news information a lot of us have been waiting for. I have been excited to see how well the PlayStation 3 and Vita bundles did on black Friday considering they were advertising them hard on Amazon and a lot of other big sites and stores.

Black Friday bundle sales increased by 15%, and total PlayStation 3 sales including  hardware, peripherals, and software, grew 9% over the sales last year. The Ultimate PlayStation 3 Bundle that included a 250GB PlayStation 3, the Uncharted dual pack, Infamous collection for $199 quickly sold out with stores and sites across the U.S. Their sales of these units were 525,000. This was during the Black Friday week.

Black Friday was also really good to the PlayStation Vita, retailers had awesome bundles for sale like the Lego Batman bundle, Assassins Creed Liberation bundle, and the Black Ops: Declassified bundle. One bundle in particular was sold by Amazon, which came with Assassins Creed Liberation, White Vita, 4GB Memory card, 3 months of plus, and PlayStation All Stars for $180 a spectacular price on this and it was sold out within 5 hours on Amazon. Not knowing how many Amazon had to sell it sounds like anything that sells out on a deal like this is a good thing! The final sales number for the Black Friday week for the Vita is 160,000 units.

Sony is very pleased on the impact it had on Black Friday and were happy to see the units they sold.

So tell us what you picked up this year and how good the deal was below!

Just another Sony fan boy. I play pretty much anything and I also run the PsNation Zen Pinball League.

I thought and was hoping the Vita numbers would be higher. But still solid compared to where they have been. Lets hope it keeps up. PS3 had strong numbers too.

Yeah both had very strong numbers! Seems like the Vita sells to a small demographic. But that’s ok I love my Vita! I got, God Of War Saga $15, NFS MW Vita $20, Jak and Daxter Collection $10, and Doom BFG Edition $20 Not a bad deal, but didn’t seem like the deals were as strong this year.

If Call of Duty had been even average, it would of been a system seller. Also Nintendo have become very aggressive in the shops here (UK) with big displays and demo units – even in supermarkets. Where as some places don’t even stock Vita’s or it’s games. :(

It’s amazing considering how Sony apparently tries to keep the Vita under wraps and never tells anyone it exists by actually advertising it. But hey, awesome things can’t always be kept down!
