PlayStation Plus arrives on Vita from next week

Sony have finally announced a new launch date for PlayStation Plus on Vita – and it was definitely worth the wait.

The platform holder revealed a mammoth six games – including three fantastic retail releases – will be free to subscribers from next Tuesday, November 19th. As well as this, 1GB of cloud storage space (completely separate to your PS3 limit) will be available for Vita saves.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush will be free for PS+ members worldwide, whilst WipEout 2048 is an added bonus for those in North America. PSP title Final Fantasy Tactics is another regional exclusive, along with the newly released Jet Set Radio. In terms of original PSN games, Mutant Blobs Attack will be available for everybody, and Chronovolt is going to be an EU-only freebie.

In addition to this fantastic news, Vita Firmware 2.00 will go live 24 hours prior, adding some unexpected but welcome extra functionality:

  • An e-mail app, compatible with G-Mail and Yahoo! accounts.
  • Wireless content transfer between PC and Vita.
  • PS1 button mapping – to Vita buttons, touch screen and rear touch pad.
  • Enhanced web browser performance.
  • Ability to tweet links to web pages.

All in all, this looks to be a hugely exciting week for the handheld in many different ways. If you’re not already a PS+ subscriber, let us know in the comments section if this move has convinced you to sign up for the service.
