‘MGS4′ trophy patch is finally coming

This has been rumoured, talked about, hinted by Kojima, delayed by Konami, and complained about by fans, an infinite number of times since trophies arrived on the PS3.

Now though, 2008′s Metal Gear Solid 4 will finally be receiving a trophy patch.

In an interview with Japanese publication Famitsu, creator Hideo Kojima confirmed the news. The game will be getting a budget re-release in Japan on August 30th to coincide with the series’ 25th anniversary. That version will carry trophy support out of the box, but existing owners will be able to update their games too.

Expect news in the coming days on worldwide launch details for both the new MGS4 disc and the patch.

[UPDATE: Kojima has now confirmed that an option to fully install the game will also be included in the new budget version; allowing for much faster load times. Whether it will be in the patch or not is still uncertain. Furthermore, it has been revealed that MGS4 will carry a total of 34 trophies.]

Good that a patch is coming.

P.S. Glenn/Josh, why is there a white background color set for the comments thread? Disqus 2012 should blend in fine with the grayish color.

    • http://psnation.org/ Josh

The Disqus grey is exactly the same as our grey page background and it really looks terrible. When I did the update I needed to change it quick (which I found to be a pain in the ass) so I made the easiest change I could and actually haven’t looked at it since.

      • http://techmansworld.blogspot.com/ncr MHazell

Can you post a screenshot about the grey part? I switched off the background color via my web inspector, and everything works fine. The post box and buttons are suppose to blend in.

CSS statements in Disqus 2012 is a no go at this point, except for the actual #disqus_thread attribute. You can’t target iframes, and the entire embed is in an iframe.

If you want to submit some feedback on the new Disqus, click the cog/gear at right of the navbar, and select submit feedback from the drop down. I’m also going to tag some popular Disqus people who could help you. @danielha:disqus @tyler:disqus @disqushelp:twitter @TaltonFiggins:disqus

I’m not going to do that. To get back to the grey I’d have to go in and change things back to the way they were, take a screenshot, save it and go back in again and change everything back to white.

It was actually a pain in the ass to get it updated & when it finally did it looked horrible. I wanted to downgrade immediately but saw no option to do so. It took a lot of digging just to figure out how to change the background to white and I really don’t have the time to put into perfecting the look of the comment system right now. It looks good enough for now.

Sorry you had so much trouble getting the thread color set properly — we’re working on refining this for sites using grey as a main color. If you want/need any help with this in the future, feel free to contact our Support team. http://disqus.com/support

            psnation.disqus.com/admin/settings

Uncheck that box, that should solve your problem. I hope you consider Disqus 2012 again soon, because it has more features then the classic Disqus.

          • http://psnation.org/ Josh

Yeah, I can’t access that page because I “do not have sufficient privileges” and this is part of the problem I have with Disqus.

It’s fine, the background is white and the comment system is working, that’s all I need right now.

          • http://techmansworld.blogspot.com/ncr MHazell

You should not have that problem. This means that you might have comment rights but not settings rights. Try using that PS3Nation account.

Now I have to replay this game too, gotta platinum Metal Gear Solid 4, only problem is this might be waiting for a north american trophy release which could be months later.

looks like I have to 100% the game again oh well was planning on doing it again anyways

  • embelievable

If that crazy requirement with the no kills, no deaths, no alerts, under 5 hours on extreme is necessary for a platinum, that would be awesome.
