SEGA have today announced a worldwide launch day for Aliens: Colonial Marines; 12th February 2013.

Q1 of next year is now looking extremely crowded, following a trio of delays last week. With this shooter being so eagerly anticipated by fans, the news that it won’t be released in 2012 is sure to disappoint many. Developer Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford decided to take a more positive outlook however:

“I am thrilled to announce the definitive launch date for Aliens: Colonial Marines. Aliens: Colonial Marines is the culmination of a life-time of inspiration from the films and relentless passion and drive from the exceptionally talented development team behind the scenes.”

After so many years of development, this definitive Aliens game has a lot to live up to – in fact, expectations are so incredibly high that it’ll almost inevitably fall slightly short. Here’s hoping otherwise though.
