Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition headed to US

Just over a month ago, it was announced that Gran Turismo 5 Spec II was to launch in Japan this year. The US now has its own new package.

The most surprising aspect of this news though, is that while Spec II is hitting shelves on February 2nd, the XL Edition will arrive in the States on January 17th. At the moment, there is no word on a European release.

As with the Japanese version, this re-release will contain the original game along with all previously released DLC. Of that content, only the patches will be on-disc, while the extra packs will be available by a PSN voucher.

Possibly in a response to gamers’ thoughts on the Japanese price, the XL Edition will retail at $39.99.

A nice little touch to the XL Edition is that the cover will be reversible, and you may well take advantage of this because the alternative boxart is pretty nice. It features the Red Bull X2011, with both a front and rear view of the vehicle, rather than the usual marketing spiel you find on the back.

Looks like you are getting a really good deal on this one. I would say pick this up considering what you are getting.
