  • Regarding “The Adventures of Tintin” the movie. Please give the movie a shot! The original comics were created by Belgian artist Herge (George Remi) in the 40’s. While his adventures are not popular in the USA (I just met one American that knew who Tintin was) in Europe are considered one of the most beautiful adventure comics of all time. Tintin is a young journalist that always travel with dog Snowy (Milu in the original) he always get involved in all kinds of strange adventures, from old school gansters to more Indiana Jones style of action. The comics always contained some fantasy but just a few drops never too much.I used to read the comics when I was a kid and I honestly got really worried when I heard that Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson were doing a movie about one of the first comics. Don’t get me wrong I have a a lot of respect for both of them but part of the charm of Tintin are the scenarios and the decade when it was created (1940s) the cars and clothes are quite realistic and the cinematic style of the comics are not easy to port to the big screen. I was worried that they were going to change the style to the “modern times” killing all the charm of the original stories. After some comments from my European buddies, good reviews and a few interviews looks like both directors/producers did a great job. Steven Spielberg even said that the original Tintin stories inspired him many times in the past.  The movie is doing great in Europe: $8.5 million in Belgium, France $4.5 million…. On its first weekend it topped the overseas box office with $56.2 million from 21 countries.
I know it might look like a movie for kids from the outside but if you like adventure movies and you enjoyed the style of the decade of the 40’s you might be suprised if you give the movie a shot!

      I second that.
For europeans, Tintin is as huge as Superman or Batman are for you yanks. 😉

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but from the trailer it looks like Jackson and Spielberg got the material exactly right – It is meant to be fantasy, but based in reality with no superpowers etc.

Even the danish “Society of Tintinologist” – yes! they exists – seems to be pleased with the movie, and they complained for months about the new translation of a reprint of the comics a few years back.

Regarding “Scene It? Movie Night” – Good review but i bought a ps3 disc version that allowed buzz buzzers to be used with the game.  It was kind of awkward but it did work.  Is there a difference with the $10.00 version vs the ps3 disc version?
